Quick to learn, slow to master. Easy-to-read tiles and clearly distinct colours should make it simple for everyone to get started.
Idea and history
How a game night that broke the rules turned into a game of its own – and why it is free.
There's an idea behind the numbers. Just as 136 tiles keep finding new ways to fit together, people with very different experiences come together around the table. In nummix, those differences don't divide. They open up new possibilities.
nummix wants to welcome people, not impress them.
Quick to learn, slow to master. Easy-to-read tiles and clearly distinct colours should make it simple for everyone to get started.
No fixed board, no rigid order. Tiles and people come together in new ways every round, and the rules stay open to your ideas too.
nummix started with a question: what happens if you simply play a classic differently? That question still drives us today.
Lively debate or focused silence: in the end, everyone is looking at the same table. That's exactly what the four segments in the logo stand for.
Two friends are playing a classic game, and at some point they start breaking the rules.
Numbers get laid differently, runs get split up, old rules get thrown out. Messing about turns into an experiment, and the question “How hard can it be to make a game?” turns into a pretty big learning adventure.
Others pull up a chair, learn the game and take it home to their own tables. And so, almost by accident, a small game culture begins.
During a games night, the first rules get broken. Curiosity turns into an experiment.
The ideas become a fair game system. At Easterhegg nummix is played in public for the first time, the first 3D-printed tiles arrive in summer, and at the end of the year we play at 39C3.
nummix is registered as a trademark and gets its logo, colours and typeface. More test rounds at Easterhegg 2026.
