In short
- No ads, no tracking, no in-game purchases, no loot boxes, no pay-to-win.
- You can play without an account and without personal details.
- Chat is checked automatically for insults and content unsuitable for minors; reporting and blocking take one click.
- Donations are voluntary and give no advantage in the game.
- The software is made with the help of an AI – game idea, rules and decisions come from people.
Youth protection: what we checked
nummix is a number and tile-laying game without violence, gambling or purchases. What matters for children and young people are mainly the places where you meet other people:
| Topic | How it is at nummix |
|---|---|
| Content | Number tiles, points, achievements. No violence, no gambling elements, no random rewards for money. |
| Purchases | None. There is nothing to buy in the game. Donations run separately via Ko-fi. |
| Chat | Only in games and tournaments. An auto-moderator blocks insults and terms unsuitable for minors before anyone sees them. Reports are reviewed by people; repeated violations lead to automatic blocks. |
| Contact with strangers | Signed-in members can invite others to games. This can be limited to friends in the profile; blocked people can never invite. Random games only happen if you switch them on yourself. |
| Personal data | Guests need no details. An account only needs a username and email address. Profiles can be set to “private”, and the online status can be hidden. |
| Age | nummix is meant for all ages. Anyone who voluntarily ticks “I am under 16” when registering starts with protective privacy settings (private profile, not findable, online status off, invitations only from friends, no random games) – nothing else changes, and the age is not stored. Under 16, please only create an account and switch on notifications with your parents’ consent – and only donate with permission. |
No tricks: dark patterns
“Dark patterns” are design tricks that push people into something they don’t really want – playing longer, revealing more, spending money. We went through nummix looking for them:
- No artificial pressure: no expiring offers, no scarcity in the game. Time pressure only exists as the turn time you choose yourself when creating a game.
- No hidden costs: everything in the game is free. Donation hints are small, never pop up and never block anything.
- Honest defaults: no checkbox for advertising or data sharing, because neither exists. Notifications only if you want them.
- Easy to leave: notifications can be switched off with one click, and you can delete your account yourself in the settings – no detours, no retention tricks.
- No cookie theatre: there is nothing to consent to, so there is no banner with hidden buttons – just a short notice.
Where we look closely: streaks (“days in a row”), achievements and levels are meant to motivate. They reward, but don’t punish: if you take a break, you lose nothing but the current streak. The flame ring for supporters makes donations visible; it gives no advantage in the game. Profiles start out public so that people can find each other – if you don’t want that, set yours to “private”. If something feels like a trick to you, tell us.
For parents
- Play without an account: guests need no email address, and you can play against the computer without any other players.
- Protect the profile: tick “I am under 16” when registering – or later, under “Edit profile”, set the profile to “private”, hide the online status and switch off “Invitations from non-friends”.
- Chat: anyone causing trouble can be blocked and reported. In their own games, the host decides whether spectators can read or write.
- Questions and reports: write to info@nummix.de or use the contact form. We reply in person.
nummix and artificial intelligence
We want to be open about how nummix is made: a large part of the programming is done by the AI assistant Claude (Anthropic) – guided and checked by the nummix team.
| Area | With AI | By people |
|---|---|---|
| Game idea and rules | – | invented, tested at the table and decided |
| Software of play.nummix.de | written, tested, maintained | wishes, feedback, approval of every change |
| This website | built, texts drafted and translated | content, photos, design, approval |
| In the game | No AI: the computer opponent follows fixed rules, the auto-moderator works with a word list. People decide on feedback, blocks and new features. | |
In the process the AI may also see content such as feedback texts. What this means for your data is explained in the privacy policy (section 11).
