Accessibility

nummix should be playable for everyone – however you see, hear, read or think.

In short

  • We want everyone to be able to play nummix and use this website.
  • We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2, level AA).
  • Not everything is perfect yet. If you notice a barrier, please let us know.

What this website offers

  • Keyboard: Everything can be used with a keyboard. Focus is clearly visible. A link at the very top skips straight to the content.
  • Screen readers: Every page has a clear heading structure and named regions (header, navigation, content, footer). Images have descriptions, tiles in examples are read out (“Yellow 16, 17, 1, 2”). Purely decorative graphics stay silent. Links that open a new window announce it.
  • Vision: Text has sufficient contrast – in the light and dark theme. You can zoom up to 400% without scrolling sideways. Colour is never the only cue: every tile shows its number, and we deliberately avoid green, which is easily confused with red by people with red-green colour blindness.
  • Motion: Nothing flashes, nothing starts on its own, there are no videos and no sounds. If your device is set to “reduce motion”, we skip animations.
  • Language: We write plainly and address everyone. The website is available in German and English.

For neurodivergent people

People with ADHD, on the autism spectrum, with dyslexia, dyscalculia or other forms of neurodivergence perceive pages and games differently. That’s why we pay attention to:

  • Predictability: Navigation and layout are the same on every page. Long pages start with “In short”.
  • Calm: No pop-ups, no cookie banners, no ads, no flashing elements.
  • Readability: Short paragraphs, lists instead of walls of text, limited line length, no justified text.
  • No pressure in the game: The time per turn can be chosen when creating a game. Against the computer you can play at your own pace and without other people. There are no expiring offers and no penalties for taking a break (more under Fair play).
  • Consideration at the table: Our code of conduct explicitly asks everyone to respect different needs – quiet to think, breaks, clear agreements.

In the online game

The online game at play.nummix.de (opens in a new tab) is automatically tested for barriers with the axe-core checker every night. Tiles have numbers and colours, and there is a light and a dark theme.

What doesn’t work well yet

  • Placing tiles in the online game is designed for mouse and touch. With a keyboard or screen reader it is only partly playable.
  • There is no Easy Language version yet.
  • The printed game has coloured numbers but no additional shapes or tactile markings yet.

Found a barrier?

Write to us via the contact form or at info@nummix.de. Briefly describe where it gets stuck and what you use (for example a screen reader, magnification or keyboard). We usually reply within two working days.
